Mahama Kappiah is the Executive Director of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE). He was eminent in the establishment of the Centre which aims to ensure increased access to reliable, affordable and clean energy in West Africa. Under his leadership, ECREEE has attained international recognition as a unique regional renewable energy and energy efficiency promotion agency in Africa. Prior to the establishment of ECREEE, Mahama Kappiah was Head of the ECOWAS Energy Division. Some of his achievements include the creation of the West African Power Pool (WAPP) and the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulation Authority (ERERA). Before that, he worked in the Planning and Development Department of the Volta River Authority (VRA) of Ghana. He is a member of the REN21 Board and has over 25 years of experience working on sustainable development issues related to energy, environment and climate change.

Ms. Kabir has a MSc. in Renewable Energy, Enterprise & Management from Newcastle University UK. Her first degree was in Business Economics from Queen Mary University of London. She is founder and CEO of CREEDS Energy, an indigenous renewable energy company established in 2012 to provide clean energy solutions and services mainly for off-grid applications. Ms. Kabir and her team are making great strides by easing access to clean energy alternatives and shaping the renewable energy sector through their work with private, public sector and international organizations. CREEDS has built competence in providing in-depth feasibility studies and community profiling, research and capacity building.
Prior to setting up CREEDS, Ms. Kabir worked for six years as a business analyst at Galaxy Backbone Plc, where she was instrumental in strategy and development as well as government relations. Ms. Kabir also advocates for and work with women and youth empowerment by supporting entrepreneurship and innovation through her mentorship engagements as a TechWomen Alumna, her service as a jury panelist for the 2015/2016 IESCO-UN Habitat Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award committee, promoting participation especially in the African continent and Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstoves amongst others. She currently serves as the interim Treasurer for the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria. Her goal is to improve lives and livelihoods by reducing energy poverty with renewables in a sustainable and resource efficient manner.

Ilana Cohen manages the Innovation Grant Fund for the GSMA Mobile for Development Utilities Programme. The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide. Through support from the UK’s Department for International Development, the Mobile for Development Utilities programme promotes the use of mobile technology for driving greater access to energy, water and sanitation services for the underserved. The Innovation Grant Fund supports organisations that are piloting or scaling these innovative service delivery models and shares learnings with the broader sector.
Ilana holds an MSc Water Science, Policy and Management from Oxford University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Brandeis University. Prior her work at the GSMA, Ilana’s Master’s research on the use of mobile payments for water bills in Kenya led her to two years of consulting for water and sanitation organisations and international donors, advising on the application of mobile tools. Janos Bonta has been working with FMO since 1990 in various management and finance positions in Africa, Latin America and East Europe/Central Asia Region. As the Public Relations Officer of the Association of Nigerian Solar Energy Promoters, he has also led the advocacy for the creation of a level playing field for clean energy technologies and supported policy framework including mobilising rural women to advocate for increasing access to energy for the underserved. He brings his over two decades of commercial, retail and microfinance banking experience to bare on increasing access to finance across the renewable energy value chain.
Segun holds a B.Sc degree in Economics and MBA from the University of Lagos Nigeria and has attended executive training programs in Harvard Business School, MIT/Sloan School of Management, Frankfurt School of Management/UNEP, Lagos Business School and Renewables Academy Berlin.

Uvie Ugono is the Founder and CEO of Solynta Energy. He is an alumnus of the University of Goldsmiths in London and a serial entrepreneur with a banking and finance professional background. During his professional career he worked at Lehman Brothers as a Financial Analyst and later at HSBC as Chief Financial Officer for the Global Project and Export Finance business in Canary Wharf. Uvie has founded a range of businesses, from online recruitment and motoring platforms to renewable energy, all of which seek to revolutionize the markets in which they operate. Founded in 2013 Solynta is Nigeria’s leading Solar Energy Provider with over 1MW solar installed across 17 states. Installations range from 500 watts to 50KW. Ugono pioneered Nigeria’s first consumer financing and Pay-As-You-Go Solar programmes. Solynta aims to install 10 million Solar Systems by 2023 providing 40,000 MW power for homes and businesses nationwide.

Justin Woodward is a co-founder and the Chief Development Officer of JCM. Justin is primarily responsible for leading the development of JCM's Nigeria platform. He played an integral role in expanding JCM’s international presence through partnerships and co-development opportunities, primarily in Africa, Mexico and other emerging solar markets. Prior to his current role, Justin led the development, construction and financing for over 75 individual rooftop projects in Canada. Prior to JCM, Justin founded Tenedos Energy, a small scale rooftop developer in Ontario, Canada. Prior to his career in renewable energy, Justin was in the private equity industry.
